If you're looking to install your own window trim, consider the style of your home, type of windows, wood types and staining as your casing will greatly influence the feel of your room.
Basically there are 3 types of window trim.
Make sure your frame is plumb, level and square. If you're wall is wider and stick out beyond the window jamb, then you will need jamb extensions which are usually glued to the window frame. Install insulation or foam into any cracks or spaces. If you are using vinyl windows, the interior sides of the rough opening are usually finished with a wooden trim piece that will be used as a nailer for your casing.
